After a year of working around the world, with long hours and no sleep, I was in dire need to repair some dark circles.
I started by making sure to drink a LOT of water. It helps some, but nothing makes up for sleep. Enter YSL Touche Éclat.
I actually tried it before I tried Clinique’s Airbrush and Sisley’s concealer, but wanted to make sure. What attracted me to the Sisley, was the high content of botanics that were supposed to help repair the dark circles. The texture of the product was nice, but I didn’t see visible improvement after I got through the tube and it felt like it was a little drying under my eyes.
The Clinique Airbrush was a little bit lighter coverage than the YSL, and I still have it in my makeup bag(bought the second tube recently) for days when I’ve had better sleep.
My favorite, like many is the Touche. It goes on easily, LOVE that it’s got the small brush on the end for applying. The texture is smooth and creamy and it gives a nice even coverage. It doesn’t feel drying and it lasts all day. It also matches really nicely with my skin tone and is available in a few shades to match most. It’s got a brightening effect, almost deflecting the dark circles.
In the morning after I wash my face, I apply an all over moisturizer and under my eyes, just at the top of the orbital bone, a tiny touch of argan oil. I feel like the moisture stays helps prevent drying, which enhances dark circles. Then I apply a light eye cream and let it set for a minute. I apply a concealer, at the moment I’m using the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer. The last step to conceal the circles, is to apply the Touche Éclat as a brightener, just under the line of the concealer, on the lower orbital bone.
This seems to help it last all day and the brightening effect of the Touche Éclat works to deflect the circles.
Concealers generally just hide the problem. If you have serious issues with dark circles, they could be caused by one of a few things:
1. Lack of sleep
3. Food Allergies
Try to evaluate what may be the underlying cause for you to help improve. There are products out there that claim to rid you of dark circles, but I haven’t found them yet.
So to sum up, YSL is my favorite. Clinique is a really good back up but gives lighter coverage.
