By now you all know how much I appreciate Bill’s work from my post here. Seeing him in action on the streets during some of the Fashion Weeks was amazing. I thought this shot captured the spirit of Bill. Look how at ease he is, and so focused. After all, isn’t he the one that inspired all of the street style photographers to begin with? Even if they don’t realize it. I loved the movie Bill Cunningham New York. If you haven’t seen it yet, that’s a good one to catch.

I remember looking at Bill’s New York Times column to get inspired during my fashion illustration classes.

Being in the field with him for the first time was so different from backstage at the shows. It totally demystified blogging/street photography. Most of the photographers were running for the same shot, but you would find Bill in totally the opposite direction, quietly capturing great style. Then stealthily leaving before anyone even knew he was there.

Cheers to you Bill!
