I have always liked St. Patrick’s Day. Especially since I am part Irish. So, as I was thinking of something green to wear today, I remembered a pocket square I picked up the last time I was in Tokyo a few months ago. Friends who know that I like all things artisanal, took me to one of their friends workshops, H Tokyo.
There are a lot of things I love about Tokyo, but one that always makes me smile is the attention to detail in the packaging. I like to put my pocket square back in the original little envelope after I wear it. The next time I open it, I’m reminded of the trip to the shop and the care that was put into making the square.
H Tokyo has an assortment of hand designed prints that are used for handkerchiefs. Using really high quality fabrics, they print them with their custom designs and then roll and finish them by hand in the shop. I saw them making mine while I was there.
They also offer collaborations which I thought was a really nice idea if you have a special event to customize for such as a wedding.
Here is a link to their website in case you want to check it out: http://www.htokyo.com. It’s in Japanese but you can email them and they will reply. Otherwise, there are many pocket squares that you can find to channel a touch of menswear in your jacket pocket and add some fun color.
