What do you get when you combine two cult classics? Converse, a legendary footwear brand seen on everyone from celebrities to skaters kicking it on the urban streets. Margiela, known for it’s anonymity and excluscivity with a cult following among fashion aficionados around the world.
With the international release of the Maison Martin Margiela x Converse collaboration being tomorrow, I wanted to share a shot of the freshly painted footwear on the street.
During New York Fashion Week at the MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela show, I spotted these stylish guys from Converse sporting the Converse x Maison Martin Margiela sneakers in advance of the release.
So, in case you haven’t heard, iconic American heritage brand Converse, based in Massachusetts, teamed up with Paris based fashion house Maison Martin Margiela to create a highly anticipated exclusive shoe.
The limited edition collection includes the classic Converse Chuck Taylor All Star’s in both low and hi tops, and the Jack Purcell. The shoes are hand painted from the soles to the laces in the signature Margiela white paint creating a futuristic, hi tech looking rendition of the classic kicks. You can’t see the color of the shoe underneath, until the paint starts to crack with wear.
You can check it out up close in this close up shot here:
The collab is available in the Maison Martin Margiela stores now, and the international release is tomorrow making them available in select Converse stores.
I was recently buying a pair of the black hi top chucks at the Broadway store in Soho and they confirmed that their store is one of the selected locations that will feature the shoe. They are anticipating lines and a quick sell out, so if your interested, you might want to get their early!
These shoes have been the talk of the town!
Do you think you will be lining up to buy them?
