Did you know that textiles were more valuable than gold in many cultures throughout the ages? Even into the early 1900’s, textiles were used for trading.
Pendleton wool started by making Native American Indian trading blankets in 1909. The heritage is a lasting hallmark you can find in the products of today, including blankets.
During all of the fashion weeks in the freezing cold, many people resorted to wrapping literally their blankets and making capes or giant scarfs on top of their coats. With all this talk about people wearing blankets as a fashion statement, it made me think of Pendelton. After all, they were quite possibly THE originator of fashionable blankets.
I visited Pendleton recently and wanted to show you a behind the scenes look at what I found when meeting with the design teams.
Stay tuned tomorrow for additional pictures.
Below are a few quick snaps from NYC and Milan fashion week of people in blankets!
