Shoes and Sarah Jessica Parker are virtually synonymous, right?
We are no strangers to SJP’s love of shoes from her stint as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City. Remember her sea of Manolo Blahnik shoes?
Are you ready?
Sarah Jessica Parker’s footwear line
is almost here and was developed in collaboration with none other than Manolo Blahnik’s CEO George Malkemus. You can read more here about Sarah Jessica Parker’s footwear line here.
The collection will simply be called SJP. SJP has a love for all things color, and set out in developing her namesake collection to treat colors as neutrals. Yes please!
Living in the west village, just around the corner from Magnolia Bakery, I can’t tell you how many times over the years I’ve been stopped by girls visiting the city, looking for Parker’s west village brownstone. I’m not sure why there was such a fascination to see where she lived, but for these girls it was first stop SJP’s, then Magnolia Bakery, followed by a visit to Manolo Blahnik.
With as much time as Sarah Jessica Parker has spent in countless pairs of perfectly crafted footwear, there’s no doubt she will have a sharp point of view on what she wants in a shoe.
Like Sarah Jessica Parker, the shoes are down to earth but stylish and feminine. They are unique and stand out with an identity of their own, and are vibrant and colorful.
What surprised us most about the collection? Somehow we thought that there would be more sky high stilettos and Carrie esqe accouterments.
Sure, they are mostly based on heeled lasts, but the heels are not so high that you can’t walk. Parker quoted to O Magazine, “There’s nothing sexy about not being able to walk.”
We need to separate Sex and the City from the girl, even if “Carrie” did influence the collection. The collection seems very personal to Parker, with her citing influences from people she’s met and places she’s been in the details of the designs.
There’s something so endearing about Sarah Jessica Parker and her love for fashion. Check out a few more shots of Sarah Jessica Parker’s footwear line on Glamour.
