Son Jung Wan fall 2014
While watching a runway show, there is always a moment in time for me. The second that captures and epotomizes the feeling, like this headline image.
If you can tear yourself away from all the beauty that happened in this shot for one second, the orchestration at it’s rise, the crescendo, that fleeting summation, then you can start to objectively disect that moment, just right for the vision.
The tonality of the gold lip, a lip that just wouldn’t work most places, was exquisite against the backdrop of an alabaster that felt darkened and tinted, a shadowy film noir version of a neutral shade you might find in a Mark Rothko painting.
Part futuristic with a strategically placed asymetrical cutout, something you wouldn’t have found in the days of old, sterilized with the fast paced beat of the music and intensity of the walk. Is this future, or past? The contradiction created balance.
Framed with the subtle shimmer of sequins that felt like chips of multi colored precious rock and stone melded together. Enhanced with a melodic accompanyment of 2 carefully placed chopsticks in sleek pulled back hair, a note to Son Jung Wan’s roots.
The shadows were broken by illusory whites, neutralizing and imperceptible .
When you finally process the moment in it’s entirety, you can reminisce to the details, the snapshots in your mind. The ones that made this show, I feel, the pinnacle of the progression of Son Jung Wan’s work.
My mind first went back to this look. Oh the sleeves, yes ! 50’s revisited with the technologies in material advances that move at lightening speed to the next gen.
Of course, the Son Jung Wan fall 2014 collection would have an element of fur coats.
Do you like gold makeup? Remeber this?
